I don’t know about you, but this reader never tires of books- browsing them, sharing them, reading them, buying them, reviewing them. Time and again, they effortlessly entertain me. And, have I mentioned I’m a bit of a news junkie? Well, I am. But other than that, I spend the majority of my waking hours glued to some sort of book activity.
I’m always hunting down outrageous books, craving those I can obsess about, and I literally couldn’t be happier when I find one.
If you follow books as I do, chances are you know that a good read is equal parts plucky characters, thought-provoking plot and forget about it pacing; which usually means forget about getting anything done- this book is unputdownable.
Since we live in a world that is spinning faster and faster and more is the new norm, it’s so refreshing to leave it all behind and get lost in a book- kind of retro if you think about it. And while it’s a little insane to read as much as I do, it’s safe to say – for most – a few hours of reading can be like hitting the emotional re-set button.
Summer is transforming. It’s true; everyone is decidedly bolder, slightly more athletic -inspired and can’t get enough of the newest trends.
And trends, whether it’s fashion, home décor, color schemes, hairstyles, music or food, are undeniably fun, and a mobilizing force when it comes to inspiration and motivation.
You may not realize it – unless of course you are reading obsessed like me, but books are trendy too.
I’ve found that lately, the characters are unconventional and out of the ordinary- usually with some sort of personality disorder. Maybe it’s because society is now embracing our differences – which is a good thing.
Anyway, I’ve included a few “quirky character” books in my favorite reads. Maybe it’s time to embrace your wild side and give one a try if you haven’t already done so.
I’ve read a slew of great books so far this year. So, I’ve gathered 12 that are forward thinking, intense, quirky or thought-provoking; all fixation-worthy. So go ahead, browse, pick a few that pique your interest and enjoy. I’m guessing you could use a little break right about now.
On another note – I happened across Kelly Palmer’s site and loved it. Some really great ideas on a healthy life style!
