Listening to Audio Books is an awesome way to squeeze in some extra reading time.

I have figured out in this crazy life that the more I read, the happier I am. Not only does it challenge me and bring me to a better place personally, but it connects me with others. It brings me great joy!

The Kitchen House

This is very enjoyable read that would have appeal to anyone who likes a well written book with an interesting story line about love and the impenetrable bonds of the people we choose to be family. Excellent book club selection.

What Alice Forgot

While attending the Book Expo in NYC, I had the pleasure of going to a panel discussion featuring Liane Moriarty. As a fan of her writing, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her talk about her books and her life. She was so charming and entertaining it made me want to read more of her work.

I needed to find a way to read more, to check off those books on my TBR list. I would get so frustrated when someone was talking about the latest book, and I hadn’t read it. I meant too. It was on my list to do, but I just didn’t have enough time. I know I’m not alone with this feeling.

It was interesting to compare the daily norms and expected behavior of the thirties to today. The various tenants of the boarding house provide an interesting cast of characters that you will surely enjoy. This wonderfully paced book would make a terrific book club choice.

Defending Jacob

This book will grab and completely occupy you from start to finish. It’s suspenseful, engrossing and has some very unexpected events. The plot is timely, a 14-year-old boy, whose father is a district attorney, is accused of killing his classmate. Guilty or innocent, the accusation is devastating to Jacob and his family.

My addiction to Audio Books started with a 5-hour trip to Vermont. I can’t read in the car because I get motion sickness, so I tried an Audio Book. I’ve never looked back! Suddenly, every time I was in the car, I started listening to a book. Then when I was working around the house, I would pop on my headphones and pick up where I left off. Now, when I take the dog for a walk, I’m happy to go that extra mile while I’m engrossed in my current favorite read!

The Invention of Wings

Sue Monk Kidd delivers an emotional story about slavery. It begins with Sarah, an 11-year-old girl, who is given a slave name Hetty, better known as Handful for her birthday. Handful is 12 years old, spirited and dreams of freedom. She’s a lovable character and brings to life the hardships of what it must have felt like to be a slave.

You’ve got to try one!   They have great narrators, and all the stories are terrific.  Get ready for your Book Club meeting or listen to one of the many books on your TBR list.   Check out our Blog Post on The Best Headphones for Audio Books!

Happy reading!
