Shadow of Betrayal

This is a first rate thriller complete with some very nasty villains, fantastic pacing, action and suspense. I love the dichotomy of the lead character Jonathan and his team; they are “good” guys that do some bad things, but of course for all the right reasons. The plot starts strong and develops steadily as the suspense and intrigue build and heighten. In between all the actions there are some great friendship moments between Orlando, Jonathan and Nate as Jonathan and Orlando’s relationship develops and Nate is mentored. You see and feel some very real raw emotions; making you care for these people. The author also mentions real current events as part of the plot, which I thought was an interesting twist, could this really happen? Great novel and series, I look forward to the next book. As a side, the first novel in this Jonathan Quinn series “The Cleaner” was nominated for a Barry Award for Best Thriller and a Shamus Award for Best First Novel. The second novel in this series “The Deceived” was nominated for a Barry Award for Best Thriller.Back.
