This is a story you will want to take your time with as you become immersed in the beautiful yet brutal countryside of Ireland. It is a wonderfully written story, filled with colorful imagery and endearing characters that you will hold onto long after youíve finished the book. Set in the 1800ís amid the potato blight which ravaged this land and its people, this historical novel is a sweeping family saga. It follows the struggles of the Kelly family through many generations as they fight to survive during these desperate times, using extraordinary measures. A gripping tale of perseverance, determination and love, this is a fascinating read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and didnít want to put it down. Learning about this period in history and of the hardships many individuals faced was very thought provoking and enlightening. This would make an excellent book club choice.Back.
