Silver Girl

SILVER GIRL by Elin Hilderbrand is a light and easy read based on the Bernie Madoff ponzi scheme. The protagonist is Meredith, married to a man responsible for a major investment scam and economic devastation. He is arrested, jailed and Meredith's world comes crashing down. Alone, poor, and homeless, she has nowhere to turn. Finally, she calls on an estranged childhood friend as a last resort for help. They head to Nantucket for the summer to escape and
heal. Hildebrand exemplifies the devastation and hurt that the family members left behind are forced to deal with. As a betrayed wife, Meredith must rebuild her life. Its a book about friendship, forgiveness, and trusting your gut instincts. Hilderbrand accurately reflects society's anger after such a crime, yet I feel the topic could have been examined more in depth. Exploring the other side of the ponzi story was thought provoking, and proved an enjoyable read.Back.
