(3.5 stars) In this story, Caroline Leavitt does an exemplary job of portraying grief, showing its inner workings from several different angels. The story unfolds around Isabelle and Charlie as they each try to deal with the aftermath of a tragic accident. The characters and the plot are complex and will make you think twice about the difficulties of letting go of grief and actions motivated by guilt. There is also a strong thread on forgiveness, which I found particularly gratifying and another on making choices in life which I could visualize happening in real life. In summary a well written book about love loss and the mystery of relationship that grips you right away but meanders somewhat in the middle and has many implausible scenarios.Back.
