On Canaans Side

The intensity of the writing is the first thing noticed about this book. This is not a fast passed plot driven novel, but rather one that requires thought. It follows the life of Lily and is epic in nature, spanning 70 years. Lilly endures much pain and loss but the overall ambiance of the novel is not dark because of the author’s ability to pull the reader into the life of Lilly and gain her perspective of events. It also gives voice to some deeper life issues especially those surrounding war. Forgiveness and the importance of truth are also explored.Back.
