Beautiful Ruins: A Novel
Reviewed by- Andrea (2012/09/03, 02:09 PM)
As I listened to this story on audio, I was drawn in by the descriptive and beautiful narration of this novel. The story begins in a small town on the Italian coast, where Pasquale, an ordinary man, with big dreams of turning his small hotel into a tourist destination lives. Shortly thereafter, an under the weather Hollywood actress arrives. Here the story begins and expands, bringing you to Hollywood and Italy during the 1960s and the present. There is a lot to keep track of as you read along. However, Pascale is just one of the many unforgettable characters you will meet and fall in love with in this book. The cast of characters is large, being both sad and entertaining at the same time. This novel is an original and engaging read which is very thought provoking. It would make an excellent Book Club choice.Back.
