The Dry
Reviewed by- Linda (2017/05/22, 09:02 PM)
A fantastic blend of mystery, suspense and complex relationships, this is a well written story with an amazing sense of time and place. The setting is a small community in Australia during one of the worst droughts Australia has experienced. As the story unfolds, the reader can feel the desperation of this farming community – so dependent on water for its livelihood. There are two mysteries to solve, one in the past and one present. Both are compelling – but are they related? The author keeps you guessing right to the end. Because of the draught, life is very complicated and hard – making for a wide range of suspects, which again keeps the reader guessing. A debut novel too – thumbs up to Jane Harper. Looking forward to more for sure.Back.
