The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
by Stieg Larsson
mystery
From The Jacket:A sensation across Europe, millions of copies sold. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance forty years ago of Harriet Vanger a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden and about her octogenarian uncle determined to know the truth about what he believes was her murder Its about Mikael Blomkvist a crusading journalist recently at the wrong end of a libel case hired to get to the bottom of Harriets disappearance and about Lisbeth Salander a twentyfour year old pierced and tattooed genius hacker possessed of the hardearned wisdom of someone twice her age and a terrifying capacity for ruthlessness to go with it who assists Blomkvist with the investigation This unlikely team discovers a vein of nearly unfathomable iniquity running through the Vanger family astonishing corruption in the highest echelons of Swedish industrialism and an unexpected connection between themselves Its a contagiously exciting stunningly intelligent novel about society at its most hidden and about the intimate lives of a brilliantly realized cast of characters all of them forced to face the darker aspects of their world and of their own lives
All in all I have to say this is one of the best books I've read in a long time. This novel had a lot of rich detail and the pace was fast. Amazingly, just when you think it's over, the plot takes yet another turn. It's a fun read. Recommend

I had no idea what to expect from this book. I kept seeing it on the bestseller lists so when it came out in paperback I Decided to give it a try. After the first 50 pages or so the book just seem to take over my life until I Finished it. Highly recommend!!

This was a great book with a little bit of everything, family saga, love, mystery and a nice pace. I think it would appeal to men as well as women. Its the first in a series and I cant wait to read the next

I couldn't put this book down. The plot is quick paced and multi layered. The characters are well developed and definitely flawed, but maybe that's why they are so believable, you identify with them. There are lots of twists and a few surprises that will keep you reading. The book is billed as a mystery but that is not where it's strength lies. It is the mix of business, politics and human relationships in this author's excellent very unique page turning style. I gave it four stars because it could have been a little shorter.
