A Thousand Splendid Suns
by Khaled Hosseini
fiction
From The Jacket:Propelled by the same superb instinct for storytelling that made "The Kite Runner" a classic, Hosseinis latest novel is at once an incredible chronicle of 30 years of Afghan history and a deeply moving story of family, friendship, faith, and the salvation found in love.
This book has great descriptions of Afghanistan's tumultuous current history. It also deals with issues such as class, religion and the role of women in this society. This is all beautifully told and written. Itís not a book I will easily forget, best Iíve read in a long time.

A well executed, engaging read about the struggles of the Afghanistan social system, with particular emphasis on women's issues. It is sure to elicit stong emotions. As an added feature the book has great details and historical facts of the Taliban and communism. I highly recommend!!
