Sitting on a beach, by a pool, or a nice comfy chair in your backyard or porch, it doesn&#8217;t matter where you are when you dive into that first summer read of the season. However, after doing a lot of research and trying to narrow the list to ten books, I decided to go with my favorite authors and sprinkle in a few new ones.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" id=\"h-city-of-girls-by-elizabeth-gilbert\"><em><strong>City of Girls <\/strong><\/em>by Elizabeth Gilbert <\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"476\" src=\"https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/City-of-girls.jpg\" alt=\"jacket cover city of girls\" class=\"wp-image-4769\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/City-of-girls.jpg 320w, https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/City-of-girls-202x300.jpg 202w, https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/City-of-girls-229x340.jpg 229w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 94vw, 320px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Because I loved the book Eat, Live, Pray, which Gilbert wrote years ago, I was curious to see if <em><strong>City of Girls<\/strong><\/em> would be just as good. For one thing,  Summer of &#8217;69 takes place in Nantucket, where the author lives, so if this book is similar to her other books,  I expect to feel as if I&#8217;m vacationing there!
