The setting is a small town in Georgia in the &#8217;60s. This book is a debut novel and one I always recommend to friends. It&#8217;s beautifully written and will tug at your heart. Stories about the importance of books are always a pleasure to read and remind me of how lucky I am to have so many books at my disposal. This book is about the Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project in the Appalachian mountains with a strong female protagonist. This book had a lot of controversy surrounding it, and there&#8217;s an excellent author interview on Apple TV as part of Oprah&#8217;s Book Club. You get a feel for people&#8217;s desperation and struggles, especially Elsa, who fights to overcome them.
