Here’s a list of books you won’t want to put down. Plus, they’re perfect for Book Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharing books with friends and family is a wonderful way to connect, and it spurs exciting conversations and can create lasting friendships. I am always surprised by the power of books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had people ask me about the book I was carrying, leading to a book discussion. It’s one of my favorite ways to find new reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave<\/h2>\n\n\n

Why I Like It: This book is fast-paced, easy to read, and perfect for a vacation or sitting on the beach. The mystery is a missing husband who leaves a cryptic note and his daughter behind. There’s a lot to discuss regarding relationships and trust in this book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Island Of Sea Women by Lisa See<\/h2>\n\n\n

Why I Like It:<\/strong> This book is about an all-women Korean diving group on the island of Jeju. This book spans several decades, so I loved learning about the different periods in history, especially the Haenyeo divers’ lives. It’s a fascinating read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Darkest Child by Delores Phillips<\/h2>\n\n\n

Why I Liked It:<\/strong> This book is an emotional read with several sensitive topics, so you’ll want to discuss it as soon as you’re finished. The setting is a small town in Georgia in the ’60s. Tangy Mae is desperate to escape her abusive family situation but is faced with several obstacles she fights to overcome<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whiskey & Charlie by Annabel Smith<\/h2>\n\n\n

Why I Liked It:<\/strong> First of all, I fell in love with the characters in this book and became invested in the outcome of the two brothers’ relationship. This book is a debut novel and one I always recommend to friends. It’s beautifully written and will tug at your heart. I listened to it on audio and can’t recommend it enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why I Liked It:<\/strong> I took this audiobook with me everywhere! I loved reading about the golden age of Hollywood and could picture the scarlets the author described. It’s complicated and addictive, and there are a lot of talking points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why I Like It:<\/strong> I listened to this book on audio, and I loved the narration, and it added an extra dimension. Stories about the importance of books are always a pleasure to read and remind me of how lucky I am to have so many books at my disposal. This book is about the Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project in the Appalachian mountains with a strong female protagonist. It’s awesome!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins<\/h2>\n\n\n

Why I liked it:<\/strong> The author delivers an emotional read about a young mother and her son fleeing Mexico, fearing retaliation from the Mexican Drug Cartel. This book had a lot of controversy surrounding it, and there’s an excellent author interview on Apple TV as part of Oprah’s Book Club. It’s an enlightening read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton<\/h2>\n\n\n

Why I Like It: <\/strong>I listened to this on audio, and it was excellent. The characters were well developed, and I learned a lot about Cuba and its culture. The narrative switches between two time periods and they’re both excellent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah<\/h2>\n\n\n

Why I Liked It: <\/strong>This book is an epic story about the devasting impact the Great Depression had on farmers during the Dust Bowl era. You get a feel for people’s desperation and struggles, especially Elsa, who fights to overcome them. There is a lot to discuss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
