I\u2019m the kind of person who is always debating\u00a0with myself; should I keep reading or should I be the adult and do some errands? Do I really have to get up right now or can I stay in bed and read a little more?<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m a bookworm, so my internal dialog can go on and on; but in the end, I do the right thing &#8211; most of the time.\u00a0If I take the time to think about the books I\u2019ve read over the years, I realize this generation that\u2019s reading less, is missing out.<\/p>\n<p>Being well read has benefits- \u00a0like dissolving stress, gaining perspective on human nature and being a source of inspiration.\u00a0And don&#8217;t forget\u00a0the way a good book distorts time, hours go by in what feels like the blink of an eye.\u00a0This I think, is my favorite thing about reading.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-616\" src=\"https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/images-1.png\" alt=\"images-1\" width=\"251\" height=\"201\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a part of me that likes to juggle the facts and play devil\u2019s advocate. I was recently asked\u00a0about the meaning of being well read; so I started juggling.<\/p>\n<p>Can someone reading only fiction be well read? Or, do you have to read proper literature and the classics? Does being well read mean you have to read X amount of books a year? Do you have to be in a book club or have a library card?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s ok to disagree, well read can mean different things to different people, but here\u2019s what I think-Just Read!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-626 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/ray_bradbury_books_2686.jpg\" alt=\"ray_bradbury_books_2686\" width=\"700\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/ray_bradbury_books_2686.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/ray_bradbury_books_2686-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/ray_bradbury_books_2686-340x170.jpg 340w, https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/ray_bradbury_books_2686-450x225.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 94vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not sure how many others out there have the same experience, but at times\u00a0I\u2019m inspired by what I\u2019m reading, and then\u00a0after a quick\u00a0Google search, I\u2019m disappointed to find the author has strayed too far from facts.<\/p>\n<p>I know, it\u2019s fiction, it&#8217;s not true, it\u00a0was never\u00a0meant to be true. But I don\u2019t want to plant bad information in my head. \u00a0Some would say this is creativity, but isn&#8217;t distorting historical events \u00a0the same as eating genetically modified, pesticide laden food? \u00a0I think so.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-698\" src=\"https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/BVHfRfSCYAIAlL8.jpg\" alt=\"bvhfrfscyaiall8\" width=\"555\" height=\"555\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/BVHfRfSCYAIAlL8.jpg 555w, https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/BVHfRfSCYAIAlL8-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/BVHfRfSCYAIAlL8-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/BVHfRfSCYAIAlL8-340x340.jpg 340w, https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/BVHfRfSCYAIAlL8-450x450.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/BVHfRfSCYAIAlL8-500x500.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 555px) 94vw, 555px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><a style=\"color: #800080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/book_pages\/discussion\/girl-who-wrote-in-silk-jacket.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Girl Who Wrote in Silk<\/a><\/span><\/span>\u201d by Kelli Estes did just this. The book&#8217;s premise is true enough, the Seattle higher-ups did in fact, round up the local Chinese population attempting to force them to go back to China; they were however, eventually given a choice, the book omits this truth.<\/p>\n<p>Contrast this with Alice Hoffman\u2019s \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><a style=\"color: #800080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.princetonbookreview.com\/book_pages\/discussion\/dovekeepers-jacket.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Dovekeepers<\/a><\/span><\/span>\u201d which weaved a story around historical events \u2013 the characters were fictional, but the basic facts are clean. Both are excellent books, by the way.<\/p>\n<p>Reading may take on a new personality but vaporize into nothingness. Doubtful.\u00a0\u00a0Parents will always read to their children &#8211; and when you think about it- \u00a0isn&#8217;t this where it all starts?<\/p>\n<p>Happy Reading,<br \/>Linda<\/p>\n<p><span
