Book Review

(by- Linda )

This book is a hats-off to Vietnamese women and culture. It's both serious and humorous. The Duong females have been cursed - they will be unlucky in love and only give birth to daughters. This is because somewhere in the distant past, a jealous ex-mother-in-law cursed her ex-daughter-in-law. But things are changing.

The Duongs live close by but haven't spoken in many years and don't talk to their mother. So, naturally, this makes for a lot of family drama. Of course, there are also cultural clashes between generations. But it all comes together to create a fun, sometimes poignant read.

One caveat; there are a lot of characters which means a lot of stories to track.
