I really enjoyed reading Golden Girl. I loved learning about Vivi's secrets, and it was nice to see how she helped her grown children - Willa, Carson, and Leo - with their individual problems during the summer.
As the book summary says, Vivi is killed in a hit-and-run accident while jogging. However, when she gets to the Beyond - Vivi is upset because she died so young. She is therefore granted 3 "nudges" to influence the outcome of her children's lives.
I thought this was a unique take on second chances. Reflecting on her life, Vivi realizes she had not spent enough time with her children - she was too busy with her career. As she observes from the Beyond, she sees them struggling with her death and their lives.
And finally, I always love imperfect characters because it makes them so human and relatable. Elin Hilderbrand did a fantastic job in this story. The characters are flawed, so you wanted everything to work out for each of them.
