by Alice Feeney
Book cover of My Husband's Wife by Alice Feeney, a psychological thriller about marriage secrets, betrayal, and shocking twists.

Discussion Questions

1. Initially, we watch as Eden Fox faces gaslighting from her own husband and a doppelganger. Did you find yourself questioning her sanity, or did you immediately trust her perspective? How did your view of her change as she revealed her past "mistakes"?

2. Harrison is the ultimate "is he a villain or a victim?" character. Do you think the woman in the house truly manipulated him, or was he a willing participant in the erasure of his wife? What do you think his ultimate motivation was-love, fear, or something darker?

3. Birdy (Olivia Bird) enters the story with a terminal diagnosis and a mission to "right old wrongs." Do you think she is the moral center of the book, or is she just as manipulative as the people she is investigating?

4. As the local officer with his own baggage, how did his relationship with the other characters influence the way the "procedural" part of the plot felt? Did you feel his secrets were as impactful as the main trio's?

5. The house itself, Spyglass, feels like a character. Did the "inheritance" twist and the connection between Birdy's grandmother and the current events land for you, or did it feel too coincidental?

6. The reveal of who the "imposter" actually was (and why she looked so much like Eden) is the crux of the book. Did you catch the breadcrumbs Feeney dropped, or did it feel like it came out of nowhere?

7. How did the subplot about the clinic predicting death dates affect the tension for you? Did it add a layer of "existential horror," or did it distract from the domestic thriller elements?

8. One of the most chilling scenes occurs when the original Eden reaches out for help from her daughter, Gabriella, but Gabriella looks at her as if she were a total stranger. Do you believe that Gabriella was genuinely tricked by the doppelganger (the "new" Eden), or did Harrison coach her to reject her real mother? How did this specific betrayal affect your sympathy for Eden's character?

9. Which narrator did you find the most reliable? Did the shifting timelines help build suspense, or did you find it difficult to track the "six months earlier" vs. "present day" threads?

10. Alice Feeney is known for endings that make you want to throw the book across the room (in a good way). Did you find the resolution for Eden and Harrison satisfying, or were you left wanting more justice?
