The Nurse's Secret

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and its captivating characters. I loved Una and her street-smart ways. She lost her mother at a young age and was basically left to fend for herself. So, unfortunately, pick-pocketing became a way to survive. I thought her transformation was real and fantastic. I guess because the change was gradual, starting with caring for her roommate - it was really the first time she had a "best friend." So sad, but it was heartwarming to witness. Then, she gradually came to care for her patients and nursing - nursing was no longer a way to escape the police.

I also loved learning about Bellevue's first nursing program. There was also a mystery element, and although not my favorite thread- it did add another layer of intrigue to the story.

Book clubs will love this one -mine did. The discussion was varied and lively.
