Book Review

(by- Linda )

I love this author - she always does a great job of keeping you guessing, and her final reveals are usually unique and hard to guess. This book is just that. Two unreliable narrators tell the story. To build suspense, Feeney withholds or changes information as you go along - keeping you engrossed and forcing you to rethink your first impressions of the characters and the situation.

The atmosphere the author creates is also perfect. An island- with only 24 inhabitants, unpredictable tides, and mercurial weather that makes it difficult to leave. The resident islanders are quirky - which I love. But you also sense that something is not quite right.

Although the pace is not as even as some of Feeney's other books- it pulls you in, keeps you reading and guessing, and has an ending that will surprise most, if not all, readers. Recommend.

I should also note that I attended a B&N event for this author. She is delightful. If she comes to a bookstore near you - I highly recommend you go see her!
