Book Review

(by- Linda )

Becoming Madam Secretary is impressive on so many levels. It captures the personality and determination of Frances Perkins, the first woman to serve as a U.S. Cabinet Secretary, as well as her her passion for helping the less fortunate.

I loved her resilience and her fight for workers' rights and safety, and I was surprised to learn about her significant role in getting Social Security passed. I had always thought of it as primarily FDR's bill.

Interestingly, we're still dealing with some of these same issues today, like income inequality and social justice.

The book also highlights her personal struggles and the sacrifices she had to make, particularly trying to keep her family together. She certainly had to make compromises.

Becoming Madam Secretary is a beautiful story about a woman and how she tackles challenging problems that remain relevant today. The world is a better place because of this amazing woman. Highly recommend!
