Book Review

(by Andrea )

This book is generating a lot of buzz and has been on the bestseller list for several weeks, which piqued my interest. I was hesitant at first because it's a love story about vampires with a dark and gothic feel, which isn't usually my preferred genre. However, I loved the aurthor's previous book, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, and was excited to give this one a try.

The story follows three women across different timelines, each facing profound moral dilemmas. Schwab's storytelling is masterful as she intertwines thier stories and explores their quest for immortality. Themes of power, love, and self discovery are prevalent throughtout. Overall, I enjoyed the narrative, but since the book was about vampires, there was understandably a lot of death, which felt excessive to me at times. This book could easily be a five-star read for those who enjoy a compelling vampire story.

Book Club Talking Points: Discuss how hunger, love, and rage travel across generations; the complex bargains each character makes; and the ethical boundaries of power when survival is at stake.
