Darling Girls

by Sally Hepworth
Darling Girls by Sally Hepworth: A Gripping Psychological Thriller About Family Secrets and Survival.

Book Review

(by- Linda )

"Darling Girls" is an emotional thriller that follows three foster sisters- Jessica, Norah and Alicia- who share a dark past, having spent time in the same foster home run by Miss Fairchild, an emotionally abusive manipulative foster mother.

The girls soon realized they needed to work together and support each other to survive. However, they still face trauma that affects them as adults. Jessica struggles with anxiety and takes Valium from her clients' homes, which leads to serious problems. Norah has trouble controlling her aggressive behavior, and Alicia struggles to form lasting relationships.

Years later, human remains are discovered beneath the old farmhouse. As the three women become part of the investigation, they confront their painful past.

One part of the book that I found very interesting is the unknown narrator, which keeps you guessing as you try to figure out who this person is, deepening the mystery and creating tension. I also found the sisters' bond to be emotionally touching and complex.

Aside from tackling challenging topics like child abuse, the foster care system, and trauma, Sally Hepworth keeps the plot suspenseful, pulls you in emotionally, and keeps you hooked with unexpected twists. A compelling and engaging story for readers who enjoy psychological thrillers with emotional depth and complex family dynamics.
