This story has a unique and compelling plot, and amazingly, as soon as you start reading, you are hooked. It's clear that Walker did a massive amount of research on narcissistic personality disorder, which has always piqued my interest. She gives us a complex, detailed picture of a narcissistic mother and the damaging effects this disorder has on children and marriage.
The story centers on Cass, returning home after she and her sister, both teenagers, disappeared three years earlier. Coming home alone, without her sister, she is on a mission to find Emma. She is determined focused and willing to do whatever is necessary to get this job done. There are many twists, turns, and surprises, and the author continually plants little seeds of doubt to keep you guessing. Great psychological thriller Recommend
