Book Review

(by- Linda )

This debut novel takes place in the seaside community of Atlantic City in the 1930s. It draws from the author's family history about her great-great Aunt Florence.

The story begins when Joseph and Ester Adler rent their Atlantic City home to escape the crowds and move into a small apartment over their bakery for the summer. Although they have done this for years, this year is different. One of their daughters is experiencing a high-risk pregnancy, and the other is training to swim the English Chanel. There's also an unexpected visitor staying with them. What follows is a summer of unforeseen events that will change this family forever.

This story is a beautiful family saga of the Adler family that deals with love, loss, and the cost of keeping secrets. There are a lot of talking points in this book, and it would make an excellent Book Club book!
