I found THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO addictive; I couldn't stop reading it, making this new book hard to resist. And, I liked MALIBU RISING, a lot, but not quite as much. The thread on the party was a little over the top for my taste.
But, I loved reading about the complexities of the Riva family; the characters are all different. I quickly became emotionally invested in each one, making the family drama the best part of the book.
But, there are twists and turns in both threads, and I never guessed who started the fire. In short, this is the perfect beach read. Great pace, lots of drama, and sure to keep you both emotionally invested and turning the pages. Recommend.
