PBR Review: (by- Andrea)
If you're a fan of Southern literature like myself, you'll enjoy MIDNIGHT AT THE BLACKBIRD CAFE by Heather Webber. Set in the small town of Wicklow, Alabama, you immediately get a sense of the strong community ties and family bonds that make this story so relatable. What's different about this book is it has a bit of magical realism sprinkled throughout. I usually wouldn't choose that genre. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the story. The book centers on a charming little restaurant named The Blackbird Cafe. It's where the magic happens, and the townspeople gather to heal, bond, and fall in love. All the characters are well defined, and their stories and struggles are universal. You'll discover family secrets, recipes, and fall in love with the small-town life in this tiny town of Wicklow. This heartwarming and enchanting story would make an excellent Book Club choice. |
