Book Review

(by- Linda )

I picked this book, thinking it was just a mystery. But I love how it also addresses women's rights and reproductive healthcare. If you're a woman, I think you'll connect with this story, because sadly, some of these issues are still relevant today.

At her father's request, Tig travels to a small town in Kentucky to paint a portrait of her grandfather. What seems easy becomes complicated as she explores her grandfather's past and uncovers many family secrets.

I loved Tig and could really relate to her. She was persistent and willing to face the truth, despite feeling uncomfortable and meeting resistance.

Tig wanted to know her her grandfather better, to capture his essence, so to speak, so she interviews several townspeople, including Eloise, the woman convicted of murdering him. Even though she was in jail for murder, I liked Eloise - her personality was complex, and she had a hint of mystery - you just knew she was holding back.

But, truthfully, Abigail Rose-Marie did a great job on all the main characters. And she also did a great job of pulling you into that era.

If you like strong female characters and stories about small-town living that are thought-provoking and linger for a while when the story ends- give this one a try.
