Book Review

(by- Linda )

I appreciate that this book tells an important story and that it's about two real-life women. Also, the events in Ukraine and the recent attacks on democracy make it even more inspiring, showing that the lives of ordinary people can change quickly.

The book is about two women, Virginia and Violette, and shows that ordinary women from diverse backgrounds can make a difference when they band together.

Virginia and Violette come from entirely different walks of life. Virginia is a quiet American with a French husband living happily in France. Violette is an unconventional Englishwomen with compassion and drive.

Yet, they are both determined to join the war effort and contribute to fighting and thwarting the Nazis. Virginia joins the French Resistance, helping downed piolets to safety, and Violette works as a British SOE agent, parachuting into France on dangerous missions. Eventually, they are both captured and meet at Ravensbruck Concentration Camp.

This is a beautiful story. I highly recommend it for historical fiction fans, with one caveat, it's a long book
