Book Review |
I was captivated by this book! Kristin Hannah's masterful storytelling has again proven why she's one of my favorite authors. Her portrayal of the Vietnam War in 'The Women' was fantastic and deeply moving. As we know, the Vietnam War was a very decisive issue for America. There were protests and demonstrations all across The United States, and there was a discrepancy between the government's portrayal of the war and the soldiers and nurses who served. Hannah captures this perfectly. She tells a story about Vietnam through the eyes of Frankie, a twenty-two-year-old woman who enlists in the Army Nurse Corps. As you can imagine, she is not prepared for what's ahead. This story draws you in and keeps you engaged until the end. It would make an excellent book club book and provide a fantastic discussion. It also has a Spotify playlist (search The Women), which would be fun to play at the meeting. |
