This is an interesting take on a favorite classic. And, I think Jane Eyre fans will appreciate it a lot. But I also believe they will feel like something is missing. For ages, I was obsessed with PBS's Jane Eyre, watching the DVD too many times to count, never bored, always engrossed. So, I was curious to read this modern take on the story, and I admit, I liked it. The author's approach is definitely creative.
There are many twists, making this an excellent thriller with great characters and a fantastic plot that kept me guessing. As a die-hard Jane Eyre fan, however, the Gothic feel and the intensity of the love just weren't there. Recommend for curious Jane Eyre fans and those who like a good thriller.
