Book Review

(by- Linda )

After reading and loving An American Marriage, I was excited to read Kin. Once again, Tayari Jones tells a story that centers around relationships. She dives into relationships between parents and children, husbands and wives, and siblings, but what really hooks you and pulls you in is the deep bond between the two main characters, Annie and Niecy. This author totally captures the true meaning of friendship. As a reader, you feel the connection between them - one that transcends distance and time.

This story is not fast-paced or plot-driven; instead, it is character-driven and unfolds gradually. While the author's focus on character development may make certain sections, particularly the middle, feel slow, this shouldn't deter you from reading - it's a beautifully written story.

Kin is an emotional and well-written story with complex characters and genuine relationships. The themes are both personal and relatable. Readers who like literary fiction, family dramas, and character-focused novels will likely enjoy this book.
