The Dark Maestro

by Brendan Slocumb
The Dark Maestro by Brendan Slocumb book cover thriller crime fiction music mystery novel

Book Review

(by- Linda )

What stood out to me most in this book were the characters, not just the suspense. Curtis, the main character, is interesting; he is talented and driven, and he feels torn between the life he wants and the one he cannot escape. You really sense his love for music, but you also feel the burden of his past, which keeps catching up with him.

The supporting characters also added significant value to the story. Each one is unique, especially those who challenge Curtis along the way. Some relationships feel protective, while others are more complicated. A few also have a hint of sadness. They all feel genuine, which only adds to the story's tension!

If you enjoy stories where characters seem genuine, and the stakes feel personal rather than just driven by the plot, you'll quickly get drawn into this one.
