Book Review

(by- Linda )

Good Dirt is a beautifully written book layered with family drama, secrets, and history. The story spans generations, and although it may take a while to get really hooked, it does keep you turning pages right from the start.

My favorite part of the book was the thought-provoking and emotionally charged themes, which are universal and therefore relatable to most people. The author explores trauma, showing how a single traumatic event can impact the rest of a person's life, affecting relationships, identity, and more. There are also themes of grief, resilience, and hope - contrasting the private and public aspects and the balancing act necessary to cope.

This author really knows how to effectively build and present complex relationships and strong family ties. The characters in this family saga have depth.

And finally, at the center of all this is a simple jar, passed down through generations, that holds shared memories and historical significance, reminding the reader that history-both personal and cultural-plays a role in shaping who we are.
