Book Review

(by- Linda )

Sunlight Finds You is a captivating novel set in 1949 St. Petersburg, Florida, where seventeen-year-old Nora meets Leonard. Leonard becomes her first love and profoundly influences her life. The book's emotional depth comes from the authenticity of its characters, especially Nora and Leonard; her longing, mistakes, and resilience, and his shy but rebellious nature feel incredibly real, making you empathize with them, even when they make difficult and questionable choices.

I've seen some readers mention pacing issues, and it's true; this isn't a fast-paced book. But slow isn't the same as stalled. I was fully immersed in this beautiful, complicated story of a forbidden love shattered by the rigid constraints of its era-where his father acts as a wedge to drive them apart, and her own family fails to support her out of a desperate need to save face. It has a steady, building momentum, and I think that comes almost entirely from its characters: because I cared so much about Nora and Leonard, I kept turning pages to find out what was next.

For readers who love character-driven historical fiction, this one is deeply rewarding, a moving portrait of love, consequence, and forgiveness that I didn't want to end.

I loved also loved: The Chaperone by this author.
