Theo of Golden

by Allen Levi
Theo of Golden by Allen Levi book cover - literary fiction about kindness and community

Book Review

(by Andrea)
This is a beautiful story about kindness, love, family, forgiveness, and more. It is hard to describe the feelings it evokes. It begins when a mysterious man, Theo, arrives in the small southern town of Golden. He is only known by his first name, but despite his reclusiveness, he becomes close to many of the townspeople.

During his stay, his generosity is not only monetary. His goodwill and the empowerment of others are contagious. He shows how simple acts of kindness can have a profound effect on others.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it provided an opportunity for self-reflection and prioritizing what is truly important. It felt like a quiet escape from everything going on in the world today. As Maya Angelou said, "People do not always remember what you say or even what you do, but they always remember how you make them feel." This captures the essence of this book. It would make an excellent book club pick and lead to meaningful discussion.

If you enjoyed Theo of Golden, you may also like these thoughtful, character-driven novels that explore connection, purpose, and the impact of small acts of kindness.
