Book Review

(by- Linda )

This is a charming and heartwarming story of a young woman who needs a second chance. Looking back on her life, she sees it hasn't really turned out the way she wanted. Her husband is gone, she doesn't have kids, and her job isn't all that great. She's ready to treat herself and dive into some luxury.

The story has this fun mix of humor and heartwarming moments. There's Phoebe, the main character, who's quirky and easy to relate to-you're rooting for her to find happiness. At first, she feels kinda out of place, she's the only person at a fancy hotel who's not there for a big week-long wedding. But then she meets the bride, Lila, and they end up forming bonding. They share secrets, dreams and fears and details of their own lives.

I thought Lila added a lot to the story. She's high energy, outgoing and obsessed with having the perfect wedding. But she was also quirky and perfectly complimentates Phoebs' conservatve personality - pushing Phoebe's journey of self-discovery.

Although the story pulled me in, I thought it was slow to start and it took a while to bond with the characters. But not so much that I didn;t want to keep reading. This is a great book for those who like flawed, human characters and themes of female frienships. The book also shows the pressure and expectations of weddings and will definatley appeal to anyone planning one.
